How do I become a Member?

Any Canadian resident is entitled to become a Member of the corporation.  Registration is easy.  Click on this link and follow the prompts.

How much does Membership cost?

Membership is absolutely free! 

What does my Membership get me?

Your membership entitles you to post music in the Catalogue and to browse other musical selections that you may want to source. As well, you are entitled to vote at annual general meetings and to run for office in order to have a say in how the Catalogue is run.

How do I register my music?

Sign up for membership and then please go to the login section found on the home page and fill in the fields as indicated. Onscreen prompts will guide you through the process.

How do I know if my music is eligible for inclusion?

The qualifications set out by the CRTC are detailed in the Terms of Use section titled "How to qualify" or alternatively you may wish to review the full decision on qualifications on the CRTC website http://www.crtc.gc.ca. Look for PN CRTC 1998-41. If after reading either of these summaries you remain unsure as to the eligibility, you may submit your selection and an independent review will be conducted.

How long does it take to have my selections posted in the catalogue?

Every care will be taken to have your submission posted promptly. However, two business days are required to review and confirm the submission.

What happens if my submission is considered ineligible?

You will be notified using the contact information you have provided with the reason for the decision.

If I do not agree with the decision on eligibility, may I appeal?

You may appeal by sending a response to the decision informing the site manager of the reasons for inclusion or correcting any information that may be inaccurate.

Where is the site promoted?

Information on the site has been sent to music industry associations, producers, industry publications, radio stations across Canada, film and television producers, directories of industry and related industry associations. Furthermore links to this site have been established on consumer and related industry sites.

Are all fields of data mandatory?

Many of the fields are mandatory because the value of the search engine can be best realized if the data that are entered are both complete and comprehensive. However, some fields are not deemed to be mandatory and you will be allowed to complete your submission without filling in these fields.

I am asked to identify a principle instrument. This is not always possible. Can I enter multiple instruments?

Yes.

Can I choose multiple genres of music by which to classify my entry?

No. If you would like a new genre to be created please contact us.
