New Content and Enhancements to the online Canadian Catalogue of Instrumental Music

Friday October 10, 2008

CCIM is pleased to announce several new enhancements to the catalogue.

Musical samples are now available for selected artists in MP3 format. Samples can be streamed through an embedded media application or downloaded directly to the user's computer. Over a hundred samples have now been uploaded including tracks by noteworthy instrumental artists Oscar Peterson, Oliver Jones and Dave Young. New tracks will be added throughout the summer by administrators with the help of CIRPA.

Samples can also be user-generated. Artists are invited to register with the catalogue and upload their own music samples. (There is no limit to the amount of unique tracks that can be uploaded, but there is a one megabyte limit on file size.)

One of CCIM's objectives is the promotion of Canadian instrumental music. With this in mind, we have further enhanced the content of the online catalogue. Every month a new artist will be profiled including images, discography and sample tracks. CCIM will also feature two unique instrumental albums on a monthly basis. Featured albums will include sample tracks, write-ups, reviews and liner notes. Record label information will be made available for users who wish to source or purchase these featured albums.

Over the course of the summer, the look and feel of the Canadian Catalogue of Instrumental Music will undergo more changes as additional content is incorporated and the interface is enhanced for optimum userfriendliness.
