CCIM travels to Germany - POPKOMM 2007 Sept 19 to 21
Monday September 10, 2007
CCIM will be part of the Canada Stand at Popkomm in September 2007. Originally, POPKOMM was largely focused on the German music industry as Germany was considered a publishing and distribution gateway into the continental marketplace. The international music industry descended upon the show in the late 90s, causing Popkomm to expand its business horizons. In the last four years, the scope of the show has broadened to attract the pan-European entertainment industry and creates a valuable opportunity for Canadian artist and independent labels to access the European marketplace.
Over 15,000 trade visitors were recorded over the three days of POPKOMM 2006 and organizers are expecting the same level of attendance this year. According to a poll of exhibitors and trade visitors conducted by Popkomm in 2006, 72 percent of the exhibitors and 41 percent of the trade visitors reported making business deals at the show. The Canadian presence at Popkomm continues to be significant both in terms of company and participation and artist showcases.
The Catalogue of Canadian Instrumental Music is an online summary of Canadian artists and their recorded works. The availability of this catalogue is a first step in enabling the music, film, television and advertising industries to access and program instrumental music where idea and to assist them to source Canadian choices. The catalogue is in the public domain, available through the internet and is independently organized and administered.
CCIM will have a dedicated site providing immediate access to the database of artists and instrumental music selections to attendees. Additionally, CCIM will be featured in the show catalogue and distribute collateral material in delegate kits.
