Monday August 20, 2007
The Canadian Catalogue of Instrumental Music is pleased to announce that it has signed a deal to obtain access to the instrumental music portion of the Canadian Music Industry Database. "This access will effectively double the size of the catalogue and make our online database the definitive source for programmers, consumers and producers looking to source recordings by Canadian artists performing in the instrumental style" said website manager Vanessa Stubbs, Duncan McKie, President of CIRPA adds "I think the Catalogue is a valuable marketing tool for both the artists and production industry and we are happy to support the effort to bring more attention to the works of these performers".
The Canadian Catalogue of Instrumental Music was launched earlier this year and is a Canadian Talent Development Initiative funded by Evanov Radio Group in association with CJWLFM, an Ottawa-Gatineau based easy listening service.
"We originally started to increase our airplay of Canadian instrumental tracks when we introduced the Easy Listening format on CKDK, Foxy 88.5 our Newmarket service. We had a really difficult time sourcing Canadian tracks in this genre and it was then that the idea for the catalogue was born. With the introduction of The Jewel in Ottawa, our need for this information grew. The response to the Catalogue from the artists and consumers has been tremendous and we are delighted that CIRPA is now working with us" stated Carmela Laurignano, Group Manager, Evanov Radio Group.
The Catalogue has been incorporated into a "not for profit" organization where a 100 percent of the investment goes into development and promotion of the content, artists and composers. CCIM is a recognized third party Canadian Content Development initiative dedicated to finding, listing, promoting and marketing Canadian instrumental artists and their music to local, national and international markets. The online database can be accessed at "www.instrumentalmusic.ca".
The Canadian Independent Record Production Association is the trade organization representing the independent sector of the Canadian music and sound recording industry. For 30 years CIRPA has been the collective voice of independent music in English-speaking Canada.-
